Croatia wins best business reformer award
05 June 2008Finance minister Ivan Suker is in New York today to accept Croatia's award as the best business reformer in Europe.
He will receive the accolade from the World Bank as part of its Doing Businesses project, javno.com reports.
The news provider revealed Croatia also came second in the world behind Egypt as a result of the improvements it has put in place.
According to the Doing Business website, Croatia has "significantly improved access to credit for businesses by implementing a unified system of securities registry and setting up a new private credit bureau".
Land registry reforms, a "one-stop shop" to lower the time it takes for business start-ups and changes to the insolvency act also contributed towards the award.
In addition, a report by Reuters has revealed Croatia is set to keep its economic growth forecast of 4.5 per cent this year.
The economy minister revealed the country is aiming for seven per cent growth within the next four years.
