Croatian-Montenegrin crossing points 'busy during August'

Travel between Croatia and Montenegro reached over three-quarters of a million at Debel Brijeg crossing last month, it has been revealed.

With almost 200,000 vehicles recorded to have passed through the border control, it was once again the busiest between the two countries, visit-montenegro.com reports.

Kobila, a further crossing between the two Balkan states, saw 25,124 passengers pass through.

This equated to 8,784 vehicles, according to the news provider.

Elsewhere in Montenegro, 341,852 individuals entered the country via Sitnica on the border to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Tourists also flooded into the country from the ports of Kotor, which saw 23,145 arrivals and Zelenika, which recorded 3,747.

In related news, a 170-metre bridge is to be constructed in the north-east of Croatia linking Kotoriba with the Hungarian border town of Murakeresztur, according to caboodle.hu.

The website states the project is expected to cost £6.3 million and will begin in 2011 or 2012.
