Croatian architecture event set for October
08 September 2009Anyone who has visited Croatia will know of its beautiful architecture.
Coming up next month in the capital is an event that celebrates the achievements of those in the industry, the Zagreb Salon.
The event, which runs between October 1st and 25th at the Zagreb Fair, shows off a number of exciting designs built in Croatia between 2006 and 2009, designed by architects of national and international repute.
Around 100 of 500 entries have been shortlisted to compete for prizes at the Salon, which is celebrating its 44th birthday.
Among this year's attendees will be Hans Ibelings, a world-famous architecture historian from the Netherlands and editor-in-chief of A10 magazine.
Zagreb has some of the most beautiful buildings in all of Croatia, including sites such as the Banski Dvori (Presidential Palace) and St Mark's Church, created by famous Croatian sculptor, Ivan Mestrovic.
There are of course also a number of museums and galleries including the Mimara Museum and the Gallery of Modern Art.
