Croatian beach holiday could be best way to get a tan this summer

Travelling to Croatia's sun-filled beaches could be one way to overcome an upcoming ban on sunbeds, should people want a healthy summer tan.

The tanning machines are set to be made illegal for under 18s in the UK after the government backed a bill calling for their demise - and that could make many adults consider the health risks sunbeds can create.

A holiday on Croatia's famously-warm Adriatic coastline may be an attractive alternative to visiting a local salon.

Beaches in Split and Dubrovnik also offer visitors the chance to combine time on the sand with topping up their tan while exploring two of Europe's most historic cities.

Temperatures in Croatia can regularly exceed 28 degrees Celsius in the summer, possibly making it the perfect spot to safely build up a tan either on one of its immaculate beaches or in a Croatian villa or waterfront property complex.

The secretary of state for health Andy Burnham suggested sunbeds are restricted to those over 18 only earlier this week.
