Swimming fans currently on holiday may have enjoyed seeing Croatian records broken at the Mladost Meet event over the weekend in Zagreb.

The 50-metre freestyle and 100-metre combat style winners both eclipsed the previous best times of swimmers in the Balkan country.

Freestyler Lana Dragojevic, with a time of 31.47 seconds, was 0.26 seconds better than previous record holder Smiljana Marinovic.

And Duje Draganja also moved to the top of the all-time leaderboard by completing the combat style 100-metre course in 52.17 seconds.

Draganja also went on to win the men's 50-metre race in a venue record time of 21.58 seconds.

The competition was held in the Croatian capital which has a reputation for top-class sporting facilities and arenas.

Enthusiastic swimmers or spectators of the sport may wish to book a holiday to Croatia and enjoy the Mladost facilities for themselves.

Another renowned venue in Zagreb is the Spaladium Arena which this weekend will play host to a concert by the Pet Shop Boys.
