Croatian coastline holiday recommended

Holidaying on the Dalmatian coast has been praised in a travel article, with a cycling vacation a consideration for travellers wishing to explore the area.

Adam Ruck, who took such a trip, was particularly effusive about Korcula, describing it as a "mini-Dubrovnik" in the Daily Telegraph, and Hvar, which he likened to a Croatian St Tropez.

Cycling in the area is said to be challenging but is made worthwhile by a night in the smaller island's town at a traditional Moreska dance, for example.

Mr Ruck claimed the event on Korcula was a "spectacular son-et-lumiere sword fight" and all on the trip felt their holiday had "turned the corner" after taking in the performance.

Hvar, meanwhile, was praised for its "gracious sea front", with sellers of local wine and lavender lined up during the day and a bevy of bars for tourists to stay in until the small hours at night.

Meanwhile, an article in the Southland Times has revealed the Dalmatian coast remains a favourite destination for tourists from the Czech Republic, with around half a million said to make the trip each year.
