Croatian coastline is attractive to tourists
01 September 2009The beautiful Adriatic coastline of Croatia is the most prevalent reason that tourists choose to visit the country.
That is the result of a new poll which revealed that 59.2 per cent of respondents to an online poll by the Croatian Times listed the coastline as the main draw for tourists.
However, it was not the only jewel in Croatia's crown as 8.2 per noted that they were incentivised to visit the country by its historical sites and 9.3 per cent listed the national mentality as a reason to visit.
More than 1,000 people took part in the online survey, according to the newspaper.
Among the many historically interesting sites of Croatia is the walled city of Dubrovik, which also lies on the coastline and was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979.
The walls of Dubrovnik recently set a monthly record for the amount of visitors they welcomed after 141,000 tourists made their way to the popular attraction during July.
