Croatian cruises offer 'health-boosting holidays'

Holidaymakers who choose to cruise around Croatia this summer could come away with a healthier outlook on life.

Going against traditional perceptions of cruise trips as opportunities to kick back and overindulge, popular line Regent Seven Seas has planned two summer trips with the intention of inspiring personal discipline.

According to the Toronto Star, its two European voyages - dubbed Wellness and Balance cruises – feature a pricey programme implemented by a nutritional guru named Dr Oz Garcia.

"Known as 'nutritionist to the stars', Garcia has worked with a variety of film and fashion celebrities," states the publication.

It explains: "Garcia assesses participants and suggests ways they can meet their health goals - he focuses on areas ranging from diet and fitness to restoration therapy."

Such therapies include massage, yoga and Tai Chi, with one 700-guest trip beginning from Athens and covering the Greek islands as well as Dubrovnik and Slovenia.

A second cruise leaves Venice in June for a seven-night journey to Korcula in Croatia, followed by Albania, Sicily, Italy and Monte Carlo.

In its recent guide to the hottest destinations on the 2008 calendar, Cruise Critic also singled out the Croatian coast - Eastern Europe's rival to the French Riviera - as a tourism "must".ADNFCR-1197-ID-18436318-ADNFCR
