Croatian footballer starts playing for football club again
31 October 2008A Croatian football player who was injured during a match playing for his country has started playing for his club again, it has been reported.
Niko Kranjcar suffered the injury in Croatia's match against Slovenia in August and has only just started playing for Portsmouth football club again, according to the Portsmouth News.
The Croat played for a short period in the club's game against Fulham at Fratton Park, which resulted in a 1-1 draw for the teams.
Kranjcar told the source he is nowhere near ready to start a game yet but it was nice to be back on the pitch and to get a feel for the pace of the game.
"In two or three weeks' time, I think I will be ready to push for the starting 11 again but I will not rush myself. I have to take it a step at a time," he added.
The Croatian also featured in Portsmouth's game against Liverpool when he went on to the pitch as a substitute after 65 minutes, the newspaper says.
In recent news, Croatia's football manager Slaven Bilic said he is privileged to be linked to the Premier League but he will not leave his Croatian team.
