Croatian heart-shaped island 'most perfect in world'
11 February 2009A heart-shaped island located off the coast of Croatia could spur a rise in tourism to the Adriatic nation this Valentine's Day.
Using the online Google Earth platform, thousands of loved-up couples have logged on to catch a glimpse of uninhabited Galesnjak.
Just a short boat journey away from the tourism hotspot Zadar, many may consider the island the ultimate romantic getaway.
The owner of the island, Vlado Juresko, commented: "It has been incredible. We think it is the most perfect heart-shaped island in the world.
"Nobody lives there so if lovers really do want to spend time alone it's the perfect desert island."
Mr Juresko added that he had previously recognised its resemblance, but since its appearance on Google Earth "the whole world" had wanted to visit.
Official statistics from the Croatian government earlier this month revealed that the country had seen a rise in tourism from a number of countries around the world.
