Croatian holiday could be easier after Lufthansa takeover
18 February 2010Tourists mulling over the prospect of a Croatian holiday sometime in the future may be pleased to learn that German carrier Lufthansa is said to be on the verge of taking over Croatia Airlines.
Such a deal could mean that Croatia's flagship air fleet is given an overhaul and new routes are added to its timetable.
Balkan newspaper Jutarnji is reporting that a deal with Europe's biggest airline is imminent - meaning Lufthansa's financial muscle could soon be flexed in order to improve the service offered to those travelling to Croatia.
Croatia Airlines and Lufthansa have had a strategic partnership in place for the last six years.
Joining the Lufthansa portfolio would mean the Croatian planes would be part of one of Europe's "most prestigious travel associations," the publication states.
Budget British airline easyJet recently announced that it is to open new routes between the UK and Split and Dubrovnik as early as May this year.
