Croatian holiday cruises in the spotlight

Those looking to travel by sea before renting waterfront accommodation in Croatia have been told the east European nation is one of the best to arrive at by cruise.

Taking place in Malaga, Spain, the ceremony for the Excellence Cruise Award saw Croatia pick up an accolade as the foremost destination for those boarding a ship around the world while on holiday, a report reveals.

Croatia joins Turkey in accepting the honour, which was awarded jointly between the two nations by Spain's Cruises News Media Group, a group of experts on travelling by cruise, worldbulletin.net says.

The Croatian National Tourist Board recently recommended Dubrovnik as one of the top places in the country to visit, calling it "the most beautiful jewel of Croatia's cultural heritage".

It added that Luza Square, which is the city's most popular meeting point, its ancient monasteries and Sponza Palace are all top tourist hotspots and exemplify what the nation has to offer holidaymakers.
