Croatian holiday on Valentine's weekend 'can be combined with wine festival'
10 February 2010Wine lovers searching for a last-minute Valentine's break could be best advised to consider booking a Croatian villa in Zagreb.
Couples in Croatia this weekend can attend the prestigious Zagreb Wine Gourmet Festival, which is set to take place on Friday and Saturday (February 12th and 13th), according to the Croatian Times.
The two-day festival will feature more than 140 exhibitors and 70 of the top Croatian wine makers.
For those more interested in food than drink, there will also be a cooking show and variety of culinary presentations, the newspaper asserts.
A luxury Croatian villa is arguably one of the most desirable properties to hire for a romantic stay in one of Europe's most historic capital cities - and enjoying some of the country's finest food and wine may be ideal on such a break.
Other destinations in Croatia to have been highlighted as potentially great Valentine's hotspots in recent weeks include the Guardian's suggestion of Dubrovnik and the Opatija Riviera, which was recommended by the National Tourist Board.
