Croatian holidays 'are popular with Austrian tourists'

Austrians are choosing Croatian holidays over other destinations, the results of a new survey have revealed.

Conducted by the Institute for Leisure Time and Tourism Research in Vienna, the report showed that natives of the country are also planning to increase the amount of time they spend abroad.

Some 40 per cent plan to take a vacation this year, a one per cent increase on figures from early 2009, with ten per cent planning to book accommodation in Croatia - second only to Italy.

According to the Austrian Times, people are being less pessimistic about their holidays and are beginning to make plans to travel abroad, with the number of those unsure whether they will head overseas dropping six per cent.

Guide2Croatia recently reported that the number of people travelling to stay in Croatia villas and other property has increased by two per cent in the last year, despite the global economic downturn, thanks to the quality of its accommodation options.
