Croatian loses out in tennis match
17 October 2008Croatia's Marin Cilic lost out in the quarter-finals of the Madrid Masters tennis tournament to Great Britain's Andy Murray yesterday.
The country's number two seed from Zagreb lost the match 7-5 7-6 (7-2) which lasted nine minutes short of two hours.
Cilic, 20, was winning 5-4 in the first set before Murray saved three set points and broke back to draw level.
Going on to win the first set 7-5, the Great Briton forced Cilic into making errors which resulted in the Croat's serve being broken.
Although Cilic held his opening serve of the second set, Murray went on to win the game with a victory of 7-6 (7-2) in the tiebreak.
But there was confusion when Murray did not realise he was serving for the match and thought the score was 4-2.
In the Stockholm Association of Tennis Players Open this month, Croatia's Mario Ancic had to pull out of the semi-finals due to illness.
