Croatian marinas 'popular'
11 November 2008A sailing holiday in Croatia can have many attractions for enthusiasts, a blog has claimed.
The authors of the Sail the Dream blog reveal they recently enjoyed a voyage to Venice which involved spending time in Croatian waters, among others.
While in the Adriatic, the holidaymakers noted that many British visitors are based in Croatian marinas, rather than taking on long journeys.
The variety of boats to be found moored in Croatia was also pointed out, with super and mega yachts, both powered and sail, being located in the marina alongside smaller craft.
However, the authors did draw attention some problems which people should be aware of before embarking on such a journey, including the difficulty of finding camping gas refills in Croatia, a lack of internet access in the country and the price of quays.
"The benefits and pleasure of sailing to Venice and cruising Maltese, Sicilian, Croatian and Montenegrin waters has far outweighed these difficulties and we have no regrets whatsoever about our choice of destination, fond memories of which will stay with us forever," they added.
Last month, a blogger on kayakpaddels.kokados.com claimed Croatia has "superior" seascapes and mountains, while the opportunity for sailing in the country is also singled out.
