Croatian midfielder moves east

Ognen Vukojevic, the Croatian football international, has made his long-awaited move from league champions Dinamo Zagreb.

The holding midfielder, who had been interesting clubs across the continent, has joined Dynamo Kiev for £6.5 million.

He will meet up with his new teammates after taking part in this summer's European championships in Poland and his new club’s homeland, Ukraine.

Vukojevic had been expected to join Scottish champions Celtic and had expressed a desire to join the Glasgow club.

However, he told UEFA.com he is delighted to have joined “such a great club as Dynamo".

"I am here to win a lot of trophies and to play in the Champions League," he continued.

"Over the past three years in Zagreb I won a lot of title and now I want to do the same in Kiev."

Speculation continues to surround the future of Croatian international striker Ivan Klasnic after his dispute with club Werder Bremen over a kidney condition the player had earlier this season.
