Croatian player not moving to Premier League

Croatian football player Nikola Kalinic will not be moving to the Premier League despite rumours he could play for Portsmouth, his agent said.

The 20-year-old striker, who currently plays for Hajduk Split, has also been linked to Valencia and Palermo in recent weeks.

However, his agent said he will not be moving to England because there are issues surrounding a work permit which need to be addressed.

Franjo Vranjkovic told the sport website Calcio Mercato that Kalinic has not played a sufficient number of international games to be allowed to take part in Premier League football.

"I can confirm Valencia and Palermo's interest in the player and they could make a £12 million January move for him," he added.

In recent news, Croatia's football manager Slaven Bilic says he is privileged to be linked to the Premier League but he will not leave his Croatian team.

It was rumoured he was going to take over at West Ham United earlier in the year when Alan Curbishley left but Gianfranco Zola has since been appointed. ADNFCR-1197-ID-18846443-ADNFCR
