Croatian regatta could be top new year's entertainment
29 December 2009There could still time for sailing enthusiasts to book a last minute break to Croatia and enjoy a new year regatta.
People travelling to Hvar Island will find many yachtsmen taking part in the traditional new year ritual between December 27th and 31st, according to the Croatian Times.
More than 300 competitors are currently taking to the waters of the Adriatic and putting on a show that has been praised by international sailing federations.
Zvir Sailing Club on Hvar is organising the event which features laser and optimist categories, the newspaper states.
The Dalmatian coastline, described as "picturesque" by the publication, could be the perfect spot for a luxury break to see in 2010 - possibly in a Croatian villa or waterfront property.
Those taking a Croatian holiday over the Christmas and new year period will enjoy "spring-like" conditions, according to a forecast reported by the newspaper last week, with temperatures likely to reach 17 degrees Celsius.
