Croatian ski holiday 'ideal now after heavy snowfall'
11 February 2010Winter sports enthusiasts looking to book a break on the slopes may wish to consider a Croatian holiday.
Up to 1.7 metres of snow has fallen in Croatia in recent days, according to the Croatian Times.
That may tempt people to secure a Croatian villa and hit the ski slopes and snowboarding venues of one of Europe's up-and-coming winter destinations.
At the start of the winter, independent tourism site Croatia Traveller recommended a Balkan break to skiers.
It claimed: "If you're a skier and going to Croatia you'll find the slopes easy to deal with and dirt cheap compared with other European resorts."
Mount Sljeme - close to Zagreb, where much of the snow has fallen - is one of Croatia's top skiing resorts.
Some people, however, prefer to book a Croatian villa in Platak, which has seven ski runs, ten kilometres of track and a plethora of luxury accommodation nearby.
