Croatian students to scale Mount Everest
20 March 2009A set of intrepid Croatian students are set to scale Mount Everest in the coming days, it has been reported.
According to the local news site Javno, the troupe of 11 girls will set about the world's highest peak, where temperatures frequently drop below minus 40 degrees Celsius.
If that was not enough, the group will also attempt to reach the top without sleeping; setting a new world record in the process.
Ena Vrbek, a 23-year-old kinesiology student, recently conquered the Himalayan peak Cho Oyu.
She told Javno: "I've been preparing for Mount Everest all my life - I have always wanted to go there.
"We have been training hard for two years. We have been preparing for Cho Oyu for a year and when we returned, preparations for Mount Everest began."
Meanwhile, fans of urban culture will no doubt be thrilled to here that the xStatic09 event, which includes sporting and musical performances, has been scheduled for May 21st to 24th, the Croatian Times reported.
