Croatian villas could be better connected
23 July 2009Holidaymakers staying in Croatian villas this year could be more likely to see a broadband connection available in their accommodation.
The latest Companies and Markets telecommunications report for the country reveals that high-speed internet uptake is "soaring".
Related technologies such as IP-based television broadcasts are also rising rapidly, the report claims.
In the year to the end of September 2008, Croatian telecoms firm T-Hrvatski Telekom saw a fourfold increase in IPTV customers.
Over the same period, a 43.4 per cent rise in broadband users was noted by the firm.
The news could be welcomed by holidaymakers looking for Croatian villas with high-speed internet in order to keep in touch with their friends back home.
Visitors to the country are told by the Croatian National Tourist Board that the mains supply is at 220 V and a two-pin adapter is needed to run electrical equipment with a standard three-pin UK plug.
Other communication methods in Croatia include international calling from public telephone booths - which accept phone cards available locally - and a foreign-language radio news broadcast during peak seasons.
