Croatian villas - perfect for a winter escape?
06 November 2009Staying in Croatian villas this winter could give travellers the chance to indulge in some Christmas shopping while the exchange rate with the kuna is favourable.
Tom Hall, travel editor for Lonely Planet, explains that a number of destinations are made ideal for winter shopping due to their exchange rate with the British pound.
For "budget-minded travellers", cities in countries outside of the eurozone could be particularly attractive at present due to the relative weakness of the pound against the euro.
He adds that most towns in northern Europe have their own Christmas markets, meaning there is a variety of choice available to travellers.
For those planning to stay in Croatian villas over the festive period, Split is among the destinations due to hold Christmas markets.
At its Christmas bazaar, due to be held on December 12th, tourists and residents alike are being invited to bring items to sell in aid of charity.
