Croatian wins in first round of tennis match
29 October 2008Croatian tennis player Marin Cilic won his match in the first round of a tournament in France this week.
He beat Andreas Seppi of Italy in straight sets with a final score of 7-6 (5), 6-2 to go through to the second round of the Paris Masters.
Cilic broke Seppi's serve twice in each of the two sets and in the second set the Croatian player did not face another break.
"He broke me twice then he got a bit tired when he was serving for the set and I took advantage of that," Cilic said.
Germany's Nicolas Kiefer also got through to the second round of the tournament after beating Ivo Karlovic of Croatia 6-4, 7-5.
In recent news, Croatia's Ivan Ljubicic lost his match in the first round of the Lyon Grand Prix to France's Josselin Quanna.
Although he served 24 aces during the game, Ljubicic was unable to beat Quanna who won the match in two hours and 12 minutes.
