Croatians prepare for World Handball Championship
14 January 2009The Croatian national side is busy preparing for the upcoming World Handball Championship, the Earth Times has reported.
With the event set to begin this Friday (January 16th), crowds have already been queuing up fervently in a bid to get hold of tickets to see some of the host side's warm-up performances.
Croatia are one of the favourites to walk away with the trophy, as their taste for success has seen the national team pick up several Olympic titles in the past 15 years.
The Earth Times wrote: "The euphoria is visible everywhere in Croatia, reflecting the high expectations the 4.5 million inhabitants have from their powerhouse handball squad."
What's more, thousands of locals turned up simply to watch the squad train before Friday's game, the publication noted.
The tournament is set to be held across a variety of towns and cities in the country, including Zagreb, Split, Porec, Osijek and Pula.
