Croatia's island is 'ideal for a quiet break'
17 November 2008The island of Sipan off the Dalmatian coast of Croatia has been tipped as a place to visit for its clear waters and authentic surroundings.
According to Travel Mail, the island is unspoilt and so the ideal time to visit is soon - before the hoards reach it.
The source boasts the area has "clear turquoise water, olive groves, fresh fish restaurants and Renaissance villas".
It adds that the island is rich in monuments and churches, so ideal for those who love to explore the history of their holiday destination.
People who like a peaceful break will also enjoy the island, as describing her recent trip, journalist Sarah Lucas stated: "The silence is audible. Later in the day Sipan, the largest of the Elafitis, promised to be even quieter."
Those staying on the mainland can travel to Sipan by ferry services and water taxis and can also visit the other islands, which the source states are best viewed by boat.
Sipan has two main villages, both deep-set bays and one - Sudurad - boasting a harbour which the car ferry connects with.
