Cuban culture celebrated in Croatia
12 September 2008A series of events celebrating aspects of Cuban culture has been officially opened in Zagreb, it has been revealed.
Javno.com reports mayor Milan Bandic was on hand to get festivities underway, accompanied by Cuban ambassador Migueline Goiochee Estenoz and diplomatic colleagues.
Running until September 18th, events are expected to feature performances by a variety of Croatian bands and dance workshops hosted by Zagreb Youth Theatre.
The news provider revealed an exhibition will also be held at the Museum for Art and Crafts, showcasing Cuban works.
In addition, Tuskanac Cinema is preparing to show a host of films from the Caribbean country, including the Oscar-nominated Strawberries and Chocolate.
These events follow the presentation of a number of Cuban movies as part of the Libertas festival in Dubrovnik earlier this summer.
In conjunction with the country's Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry, a host of films from the Central American island were shown during the event's run.
