Culture vultures can travel to Croatia for new 'Olympics'

A huge number of people could travel to Croatia in 2012 to take in a special new event – the Culture Olympics.

Fine artist Peter Weisz, from Osijek, has founded the celebration and will host it in his home town, as well as four others, next year, reports the Croatian Times.

A host of famous and acclaimed star names have wasted no time in coming forward to lend their support to the prestigious showpiece.

Poet Arsen Dedic, actress Ana Karic, fine artist Dimitrije Popovic and film maker Jakov Sedlar are just some of those to have been confirmed on the Croatian National Board for the Culture Olympics, the newspaper states.

It will be supported by several official tourism and expert authorities, promising to make it a must for any culture vultures looking for a holiday in 2012.

Osijek is located in northern Croatia, to the east of Zagreb and close to the border with Sebia.
