Czech filmmaker looks to Croatia for inspiration
09 March 2009A famed Czech filmmaker has turned to Croatia as he looks for the inspiration for his latest works, it has been reported.
Academy Award-winning director Jiri Menzel is set to make two documentaries about the Balkan nation which focus on the country's popularity with Czech tourists, according to the Croatian Times.
Specifically, Menzel will look at Dubrovnik and Makarska, which are both said to have found popularity with visitors from central Europe.
Entitled Our Sea, Your Sea and My Croatia, the films are intended to look at the Adriatic destination in a way which is both "charming and funny", the newspaper reported.
Through the documentaries, Menzel is hoping that Croatia will become an even more enchanting holiday destination for Czech tourists.
Figures published by the Croatian Bureau of Statistics earlier this year showed that approximately 650,000 Czech nationals travelled to the country in 2008.
