Czechs 'continue to flock to Croatia's beaches'
16 September 2008Croatia is very popular with natives of the Czech Republic, with the Dalmatian coast an especially popular destination, it has been claimed.
Trevor Ayson, a New Zealand-born journalist living in the country, told the Southland Times of his travels to the Balkans.
He said the journey took 12 hours from Brno in the south of the Czech Republic to Brela on the southern Dalmatian coast.
Despite this, Mr Ayson says land-locked Czechs in particular flock to Croatia, with around half a million heading to the country's beaches each summer, the newspaper reports.
A spokesperson for Charisma PR, which represents the Croatian National Tourist Board, said recently there is a lot more to the country than just beach holidays.
It was pointed out there are a variety of different destinations available to the holidaymarker, with a range of activities, from trekking and water rafting, to visiting some of the historic cities on offer.
