Dalmatian island praised

Hvar in the Adriatic Sea is a "classic Dalmatian beauty" which enjoys a fantastic climate and possesses great beaches, it has been claimed.

According to Tips from the T-List, the island is well served by ferries from the mainland, with five per day from Split, which takes two hours, and one per day from Pescara, lasting four hours.

Named after a French emperor, the traditional lookout point of Napolijun building on top of St Nicholas medieval church, is named as one of the main attractions.

The news provider suggests another ecclesiastical venue worth visiting on the island includes the Gothic cathedral of Pope St Stephen.

In addition, Pjaca is said to have "maybe the biggest and most picturesque town square in Croatia".

A recent article in the Independent described Hvar as the country's answer to the French Riviera, after it was named as one of the ten most beautiful islands in the world by Conde Nast Traveller.
