Dalmatian restaurants offer 'generous portions and fine wines'
07 April 2009The restaurants of Dalmatia are home to some of the most interesting and delightful cuisines in all of Croatia.
That is according to a new feature in the UK's Telegraph newspaper, which has detailed some of the best places to eat and drink in the region's countless islands.
Visiting the area, Claire Mann described some of the area's best eateries, which often serve dishes such as locally caught fish.
Ms Mann wrote: "In most pretty bays where you drop anchor there is a 'konoba' (restaurant) on the water's edge. They are invariably family run.
"The patron is often an eccentric character bent over a sizzling grill with a cigarette clamped between his teeth."
She added that portions at these restaurants were "generous", meaning it was often possible to share, while many sold locally produced Croatian wine.
Visitors to the region may also want to stop by at the Dalmatian island of Brac, which the Mirror newspaper described as "stunningly beautiful" in an article this week.
