Demand for overseas property increases

A growing number of consumers in the UK are becoming interested in purchasing a foreign residence, analysts have noted.

Demand for overseas property has suffered in recent months as a result of the global financial crisis, as well as the slump in the pound.

However, Conti has reported that in the last few weeks, there has been a 20 per cent increase in the number of people expressing an interest in buying a European property.

This means that demand for homes in countries such as Croatia could be set to increase in the near future.

Clare Nessling, operations director at Conti, commented: "The fact that sterling is starting to claw back some value has given [overseas property buyers] a boost."

She added that the price of property in many locations has declined over the last few months, which means they are now more affordable to foreign buyers.

This comes after Property Abroad highlighted Croatia as an ideal destination for overseas investors to consider, as it offers "top of the range" modern developments.
