Dubrovnik becoming popular worldwide

Dubrovnik is a well known and popular holiday destination in Croatia.

Now it appears that Asian travellers are keen to head to the city, with British Airways launching new flights to the destination from Singapore.

According to eTravelBlackboard, a spokesperson for the airline said: "Eastern European destinations have become increasingly popular among Singaporean travellers recently.

"We are delighted to offer this attractive opportunity to discover Dubrovnik, the true pearl of the Dalmatian coastline."

The city is a Unesco World Heritage site and as such has much to see and do for the culturally-minded visitor.

Among the fascinating places to visit are the city walls, which were originally created in the tenth century and the Pile Gate, from the 15th and 16th centuries.

Dubrovnik has been an important city for hundreds of years, with the old town relatively unchanged since the 13th century.

A number of celebrities have visited the city in recent months including Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z.
