Dubrovnik holidaymakers could soon enjoy ice skating
30 December 2009Travellers heading to Dubrovnik may be adding ice skating to their list of things to do in the ancient city after it was announced that a rink is due to open on Friday (January 1st).
The open-air complex in the Ilijina glavica region of the city will house up to 115 skaters at any time, according to the Croatian Times.
At 450 sq m it is likely to impress even the most ardent skater and with an entry price of 20 kunas (£2.46) for one hour could please those on a budget too.
Beginners will be able to skip the rink at first and head to the Medvescak school, where ice skating and ice hockey lessons will be available, the newspaper reveals.
After setting a rapid lap time on the rink, tourists may wish to visit the historic walls of Dubrovnik which surround the city.
Last month journalist Rick Haliechuk said that the views from Dubrovnik's walls are "magnificent", with the crystal clear waters of the Adriatic in one direction and the red tiled rooftops of the city in the other.
