Dubrovnik holidays 'an Easter favourite'

In excess of 15,000 people decided to holiday in Dubrovnik over the Easter weekend, new figures have revealed.

According to a report by Jutarnji List, cited by the Croatian Times, the Adriatic city was a popular choice among those looking to get away for the religious festival.

As well as those making their own way to the resort by plane, rail and road, several thousand others enjoyed the delights of Dubrovnik thanks to being on one of the seven cruise ships that docked in the city over the holiday period.

The news source also noted that the majority opted for luxury accommodation in Dubrovnik, in order to see out Easter in style.

Some of the highlights for visitors could have been the ancient city walls, the glamorous beaches and trips to nearby islands such as Lokrum.

Nick Harrison, writing for the Daily Telegraph, recently said the walls were an iconic part of what he described as the "pearl of the Adriatic".
