Dubrovnik holidays 'are a great example of medieval history'
28 June 2011The history of Dubrovnik may be one of the major reasons so many people flock to the city for a holiday in Croatia each year.
Whether it is its ancient walls that circle the Old Town area or its ample museums, theatres and churches, there are plenty of reminders of the past.
Indeed, the resort is packed with things to see and do, with the Dubrovnik Tourist Board recommending the cable car to the top of Mount Srd as the perfect way to get a view of the entire destination.
It suggested that visitors will be "amazed" by what they can witness from the peak of the overlooking mountain.
And John Benzaquen, writing for the Jerusalem Post, has backed up the claims that Dubrovnik is a wonderful spot for a holiday.
He described it as one of the best-preserved medieval cities in the world, with many of the structures within the city dating back to the period in question.
The traveller went on to suggest Dubrovnik has, at times, been a rival to Venice in the culture stakes.
