Dubrovnik one of Europe's top five beach holiday destinations
07 December 2009The Croatian coastal resort of Dubrovnik has been named as one of Europe's top five destinations for people looking to book a beach break.
A particular strength of the ancient city is the accommodation it offers, with almost 50 hotels rated by price comparison site Trivago.com and an average of 78.77 per cent being scored.
That could tempt some potential visitors to book a Croatian villa and enjoy a reasonably-priced holiday in true luxury by the Adriatic coastline.
Dubrovnik's impressive hotel ratings along with its offering of rich history and culture alongside an idyllic stretch of shoreline was enough to confirm its place in the top five, beaten only by Belek, Binz, Sorrento, and Funchal.
The historic walls which still surround the city are often the highlight for many people visiting Dubrovnik, with a walk along them taking about an hour.
A trip to Dubrovnik could be especially enjoyable in February when the city's colourful carnival takes place.
