Dubrovnik provides events for tourists at New Year
12 November 2008The city of Dubrovnik in Croatia provides the visitor with a mixture of ancient traditions and a modern culture in the winter months.
Often called the 'Pearl of the Adriatic', the city is quieter over the New Year period than in the summer months giving tourists more space to explore.
Visitors can discover the historic buildings of the city, which overlooks the picturesque Dalmatian Coast, including Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque churches.
On New Year's Eve, Dubrovnik comes to life with live music being played in the city, most prominently in the Old Town and the main square of the Babin Kuk Peninsula.
Tourists can also explore the many ancient monasteries, palaces and fountains.
Visitors to Zagreb can also get in the festive spirit as a Christmas Fair, which takes place every year, will be held in the city from December 18th to 28th.
Organisers of the event intend for the ten days to provide a happy occasion for families and they want to encourage smiles in the city.
