Dubrovnik set to shine at World Travel Awards?

Dubrovnik has been nominated as Europe's Leading Travel Destination in the 2009 World Travel Awards.

The beautiful Croatian city will battle it out in the category with a number of other tourist hotspots.

Leading Travel Destination will not be the only category that Croatia is represented in. Le Meridien Lav, located in Split is also in the shortlist for Europe's Leading Casino Resort.

The exclusive resort offers 800 metres of beach frontage as well as 381 guest bedrooms and eight restaurants and bars, among its many attractions.

Croatia has emerged in recent years as one of Europe's most desirable holiday hot spots and recognition at the 2009 World Travel Awards could be seen as a testament to that fact.

Dubrovnik in particular offers a range of exciting opportunities for holidaymakers from all over the world, including the Old City which is a Unesco World Heritage site.

The European Gala Ceremony is on October 17th in Obidos Portugal.
