Dubrovnik travellers have 'a host of options'

Holidaymakers to Dubrovnik will find the airport smaller than some other destinations, but will have a host of onward travel options.

According to About.com, the area has recently "burst" onto the tourist scene, but still has a small airport with a few amenities.

However, the source reports there is a wide variety of car rental companies, from international names to local businesses.

Travellers are also advised they can visit the nearby islands easily, as a bus service runs from the airport to the old town gate, from which you can get a connection to the ferry or bus terminal.

Some holidaymakers can opt for a taxi for its ease of travel, but the website warns catching a bus from the transport hub to the hotel is the cheapest way.

The vehicles also look like tour buses, the source assures, and are scheduled according to flight times, meaning there will usually be one waiting for passengers.

People travelling around Europe and Croatia will find it cheaper at the moment as the website reports the Eurail Global Pass is offering free additions to its passes.

Those opting for a 15-day ticket will get 21 days for the same price, while the 21-day pass will afford the traveller a month of rail access.
