Dubrovnik's walls 'a highlight of holidays in Croatia'
21 April 2011The ancient walls of Dubrovnik that surround the city's Old Town area have long been held up by tourists as an example of all that is great about a holiday in Croatia.
Set against the backdrop of the turquoise waters of the Adriatic and the iconic red rooftops of the resort, the structure is the perfect place for a stroll in the sun.
That is a view shared by Daily Telegraph writer Nick Harrison, who has recently praised the walls.
He highlighted a climb to the Minceta fortress, located at the highest point of the walls, as one of his favourite activities while in the city.
"The Dubrovnik I see on this warm spring morning fully lives up to the city’s oft-used description as the Pearl of the Adriatic," Mr Harrison stated.
Jane Foster, writing for the same newspaper, recently suggested spring is the perfect time to travel to Croatia and Dalmatia is one of the trendiest spots to head to.
