Enjoy olive festival on Croatia holiday
30 September 2010The smell and taste of olives is, to many, symbolic of a holiday in Croatia - and those heading to the country next month will have more chance than most to enjoy the tasty treats.
Krk, one of the islands off the mainland, is hosting the Days of Olives event, which offers visitors a unique chance to be a part of the olive harvest.
Locals will be on hand to rustle up olive-based snacks throughout the day and the fresh produce is also included in the evening feast.
Some of Croatia's finest chefs will prepare dishes featuring olives for residents and holidaymakers alike to taste.
In addition to the culinary delights of the island, musicians will also show off some of its most popular sounds from the sopile, an instrument similar to the oboe.
Earlier this week, the Independent featured Croatia in its series of dishes from around the world, noting the country is renowned for high-quality seafood and fish meals.
