Enjoy "peaceful oasis" on holiday in Croatia

People heading to Croatia for a holiday may wish to book accommodation on the island of Mljet, with the spot named by an expert as a "peaceful oasis".

George Webster, writing for CNN, says the destination is full of tiny hideaways and unspoilt beaches that will offer any traveller a place to relax.

He suggests venturing to the west of the island, where the village of Pomena, famed only for farming and fishing, stands.

With approximately 50 inhabitants to its name, Pomena is the perfect place to get away from it all, with its large and safe bay ideal for exploring the Adriatic by boat.

Elsewhere on Mljet, there is a national park that features clear lakes and cycling tracks that are particularly easy on the eye, remarks the writer.

Mljet is located just a short ferry ride from the coast of Dubrovnik and is close to Korcula, which may also be worth a visit when staying in Croatia.
