Enjoy traditional Easter on holiday in Dubrovnik

Tourists searching for somewhere to visit over the upcoming Easter break may wish to consider a holiday in Dubrovnik.

The Dubrovnik Tourist Board explains the city offers a traditional experience full of the spirit of the religious festival.

Locals piously attend the celebrations in Holy Week and undertake a number of rituals, such as the ceremonial procession through the resort.

Meanwhile, there is plenty of fun to be had as gift eggs are handed out, while typical presents also include plaited palm leaves and olive twigs.

The organisation urges people who book accommodation in Dubrovnik over the holiday period to make sure they are in Stradun – the city's main street – on Easter morning, where youngsters dish out eggs.

Dubrovnik is currently enjoying one of its major festivals of the year – the annual Dubrovnik Carnival.

Running until March 6th, the party features a number of grand processions, musical performances and functions.
