Experience folklore on a Croatia holiday

Folklore ensembles from all regions of Croatia will be showcasing their talents at an annual festival in Zagreb this week.

The event, now in its 43rd year, is set to begin today (July 15th) and celebrates the regional diversity of folklore in Croatia, as well as across other European nations.

According to EuropeanIrish.com, Irish dance classes will make up a key part of this year's festival, offering a daily workshop titled Dance With Us every evening after the official programme closes.

One show on the programme is themed around the universality of the circle dance, while another main show is dedicated to Istrian folklore and is complemented by concerts and folk church singing.

People attending the festival while on a holiday in Croatia can learn about regional traditions in the country, including harvest festivities, weddings, carnivals and other traditions, according to the Croatian National Tourist Board.

The International Folklore Festival is based on similar events held in the 1930s and is set to conclude on Saturday July 19th.
