Expert urges research on medical holidays

Croatia was recently highlighted as being a popular destination for medical tourists.

However, people who are considering taking a trip abroad for cosmetic surgery should make sure to do their research first, it has been warned.

Katharine Griffiths, editor of CosmeticSurgeryToday.co.uk has said that people should consider all the variables before heading overseas to have work done.

"There are some fantastic surgeons, doctors and medical centres abroad, just as there are in the UK, but it is important to apply exactly the same criteria to choosing a surgeon or clinic just as you would do here," she said.

According to the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, more than a quarter of surgeons said they have noted an increase in the amount of patients over the last 18 months experiencing complications as a result of cosmetic surgery holidays.

However, provided a person does their research well, a cosmetic surgery trip to Croatia could be a cheap way to get the service you require in a beautiful location.
