Exploring 'authentic cuisine' on Croatia food tour
27 March 2008A gastronomic exploration of Croatia yields "bountiful delicacies" including fresh oysters from Dubrovnik's famed Ston oyster beds, according to one set of travel specialists.
Representatives for cruise company Crystal suggested that yachting enthusiasts in particular could work off the fruits of their adventure with a spot of diving off the country's coast.
According to John Stoll, the firm's director of land programmes, a trip dedicated to an investigation of Croatian foodstuffs provides "an unparalleled opportunity for culinary experiences that are true to each region, with a focus on authentic cuisine and local delicacies renowned the world over".
He concluded by singling out the wine-tasting and multi-course meals on offer in "spectacular settings" such as Dubrovnik's ancient sea port as musts for intrepid gastronomic explorers.
In a recent interview with Canadian publication Vue Weekly, Mediterranean cuisine enthusiast Sharman Hnatiuk revealed that her own Croatian culinary experience was put to innovative use when she got home.
Upon her return from a Croatia holiday, Ms Hnatiuk shared her eastern European insight with some friends who happened to own a pizza restaurant.
After sampling the Adriatic-inspired, prawn-based novelty, the professionals apparently used their expertise to deem it simply "heavenly".
