Festive events to take place in Maribor

Maribor in Slovenia will host a variety of events this festive season including concerts, displays and activities for visitors to take part in.

The official lighting of the Chinese lanterns and other installations will take place at the beginning of December, starting the festivities in the town.

Street events and open-air concerts will take place in the Giavni trg, Trg svobode, Grajski trg and Maistrov squares between December 27th and January 1st.

There will also be rich cultural, entertainment and creative programmes for children provided at the events.

On Christmas Eve, the annual festive concert will take place in the torchlit setting of the former presbytery of the Natural and Cultural Heritage Centre in St Boifenk on Pohorje.

The walk to Pekrska gorca, which uses torchlight to re-enact the transfer of the light from the holy town of Bethlehem, will also take place on Christmas Eve, before a Mass is held at 18:00 local time.

Ljubljana in the country will also host a wide variety of events for all ages over the Christmas and New Year period.
