Film festival underway in Vukovar

The third annual Vukovar Film Festival opened on Wednesday (August 26th) with two films being shown on the opening night.

Christoph Wermk's Suzuki and Berlin Calling by Hannes Stohr were the two movies that had the honour of kicking off the cultural event.

The festival runs from August 26th to the 30th and features screenings in two locations, one of which is a floating barge on the Danube river.

One of the highlights of the festival will be a Tulum (or the Party) from Zagreb-born director Dalibor Matanic, a short film that was featured at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in France.

Three different types of film will be celebrated at the Vukovar event, including shorts, feature films and documentaries.

Croatia could be a popular place for tourists looking to explore the world of film as it also holds the annual Dubrovnik Film Meeting in August, which has attracted a host of international talent.
